Unfortunately nowadays there are so many kids that are glued to their phones and have no outside or exercise activities as part of their day. The latest data from the National Health and Nutrition Examination Survey show that the national obesity rate among youth ages 2 to 19 is 18.5%. By looking at this statistic it should impulse us parents to take an initiative and not contribute to this statistic and have their child on the verge of obesity.
One of the ways that we can make a change is by choosing a sports class for your kids. There are many sports classes that are offered throughout the schools. For example: karate, cheerleading, dance, football, soccer, and many many more! Every child is different so they have a lot of choices they can choose from.
This can definitely benefit your child because they are active and exercising. Sports participation can help children develop social skills that will benefit them throughout their entire lives. … Kids learn leadership skills, team-building skills and communication skills that will help them in school, their future career and personal relationships.
The best way to choose a sports class for your kids is to see what interests them the most. You might think that they are interested in a specific sport but in reality they might like something else. If you see that you turn on the TV and he/she is glued to watching the baseball game then that might be a good indication that they want to join baseball. There are many cues that our kids give us that we need to look at so we can place them into an activity that they will enjoy instead of dreading to go.
Like I mentioned before there are so many sports classes for your kids these days. Many schools offer after school activities that require your child to be active. Sports classes include soccer, football, dance, cheerleading, karate, etc, Even if there are sports classes that are not offered directly by your kids school, you can always enroll them in out of school classes and sports for instance baseball leagues or even swimming! You might be surprised how fun it will be for your whole family to join your little one in the next baseball game.
In the end, our kids are always our main focus and we always want the best for them. We should not let our kids be a statistic when it comes to child obesity. We should always have them being active and the best way is to enroll them in a sports class. They will enjoy every minute of it and you will too! How cute do they look in their ballet leotard or making their first goal. We should always be there to support them and encourage them to continue being active and playing sports.
