As a parent, you can help your child improve their self-esteem by ensuring that they like and value themselves. Make sure that your child knows the importance of being assertive and have the capability to be undermine situations. Ensure them that they have the capability of trying new things such a martial arts classes, dance classes or other activity they may be interested, despite how difficult they might be.
When is time to look for professional help?
You can tell it is time for professional help when you see that child is getting angry and aggravated to try new things or they might get extremely sad when they see that what they wanted to do, did not come out exactly how they wanted. A good sign to also look at is if your child gets overwhelmed easily. Many kids gets stressed and this can lead to them getting an immense sense of overwhelming. This limits their ability to function and continue to try new things.
