For many times I’ve asked myself the same question “what is the best time to my kids goes to bed?”.Can be tough to find an answer to this question. You have to take in count many different points before find what works perfectly for you and your family.
A good night of sleep can change completely your kid’s behavior and mood. nowadays we have so much to do that is even hard to find time to rest.
Chindren need more time of sleep than adults and it’s really important for them to have full attention on school hours.

Kids on school-age needs extra attention when it comes about have a regular bedtime routine because they can function best when fully rested.
I already find a way to have my kids on the bed at the perfect time, it makes them wake up in the morning rested and in a great mood. Today I am sharing with you the most important pieces of information I’ve found on my research based on my own experience.
What the specialists say about kids bedtime
In accordance with the American Academy of Pediatrics childhood guidelines an adequate sleep duration can improve attention, behavior, learning, emotional, physical and mental health. Also not getting enough sleep can lead to many health issues like depression, obesity, hypertension and more.
This is the sleep hours that a group of specialists from AAP recommends:
- Infants 4 months to 12 months should sleep 12 to 16 hours per 24 hours (including naps) on a regular basis to promote optimal health.
- Children 1 to 2 years of age should sleep 11 to 14 hours per 24 hours (including naps) on a regular basis to promote optimal health.
- Children 3 to 5 years of age should sleep 10 to 13 hours per 24 hours (including naps) on a regular basis to promote optimal health.
- Children 6 to 12 years of age should sleep 9 to 12 hours per 24 hours on a regular basis to promote optimal health.
- Teenagers 13 to 18 years of age should sleep 8 to 10 hours per 24 hours on a regular basis to promote optimal health.

Family lifestyle can interfere on kids sleep quality
In nowadays and especially for parents with kids in school age, it is very hard to maintain a regular routine. Between work, home chores and tons of homework that kids brings to home every day, is not easy to balance your daily tasks with rest time.
I really know what I am talking about! I found a way to get my kids to sleep early but before that I found myself many times sleeping 5 or 6 hours per night what made me wake up feeling tired in the morning.
Try to find a balance is the most challenging part but is also necessary not only for the kids but for the whole family. Even if you arrive home at 7pm and still have to cook and bath your child before put your kids to sleep I truly encourage you to optimize your time and create an schedule that helps you to improve your your Family life quality.
